Code of Conduct

Applies to: All participants in World Walker programs
Provider: World Walker Foundation / World Walker LLC (“World Walker”)

1. Purpose

World Walker programs are designed to promote:

  • Cultural immersion

  • Personal growth

  • Global awareness

  • Community and connection

This Code of Conduct exists to ensure a safe, respectful, and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

2. Core Expectations

Participants are expected to:

  • Respect local cultures, customs, and communities

  • Act with integrity, maturity, and accountability

  • Contribute positively to the group environment

  • Represent themselves and their community with awareness and respect

3. Cultural Respect (IMPORTANT)

Participants must:

  • Follow local norms (e.g., noise levels, public behavior, dress when appropriate)

  • Show respect to local people, spaces, and traditions

  • Be mindful of how their behavior reflects on the group

Behavior that disrespects the host country or community may result in removal from the program.

4. Participation & Engagement

World Walker encourages full participation in scheduled activities.

Participants may choose not to attend activities; however:

  • They are responsible for their own time, safety, and transportation

  • They must communicate plans when separating from the group

  • They may not disrupt group schedules or logistics

Repeated disengagement that negatively affects the group experience may result in removal from the program.

5. Time & Group Coordination

Participants are expected to:

  • Be on time for group activities and departures

  • Communicate proactively if running late

  • Respect shared schedules and group commitments

Repeated lateness that disrupts the group may result in consequences, including removal from the program.

6. Behavior & Group Dynamics

Participants must:

  • Treat others with respect and professionalism

  • Avoid disruptive, aggressive, or unsafe behavior

  • Respect personal space and boundaries

This includes:

  • Excessive noise or disturbance

  • Ignoring group expectations

  • Creating conflict within the group

7. Alcohol & Substance Use

  • World Walker does not provide alcohol at official activities

  • Participants must follow all local laws regarding alcohol use

Participants are expected to:

  • Consume alcohol responsibly (if legal)

  • Avoid intoxication that impacts safety or the group experience

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Illegal drug use

  • Behavior that endangers self or others

Violations may result in immediate removal without refund.

8. Harassment, Discrimination & Misconduct

World Walker has a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Sexual harassment or assault

  • Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or identity

  • Bullying, intimidation, or unwanted conduct

Participants must:

  • Respect personal boundaries

  • Obtain clear consent in all interactions

  • Maintain professionalism in all environments

Any violation will result in immediate removal and may be reported to local authorities.

9. Safety & Personal Responsibility

Participants are responsible for:

  • Their personal safety and decision-making

  • Following safety guidance from staff

  • Making responsible choices during free time

World Walker is not responsible for:

  • Independent activities

  • Personal decisions outside program structure

10. Independent Activities

Participants may explore independently but must:

  • Inform staff of general plans when leaving the group

  • Follow local laws and safety practices

All independent activities are undertaken at the participant’s own risk.

11. Communication Expectations

Participants must:

  • Stay reachable via agreed communication channels (GroupMe, WhatsApp, etc.)

  • Respond to important updates in a timely manner

  • Keep staff informed of major issues or changes

12. Property & Accommodations

Participants must:

  • Respect accommodations, transportation, and facilities

  • Avoid damage or misuse of property

Participants are financially responsible for any damage they cause.

13. Violations & Consequences

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Verbal warning

  • Restricted participation

  • Removal from the program

Serious violations may result in immediate removal without refund.

Participants removed from the program are responsible for:

  • Their return travel

  • Any additional expenses incurred

14. Reporting Concerns

Participants are encouraged to report:

  • Safety concerns

  • Misconduct

  • Harassment

Reports can be made to World Walker staff or designated trip leaders.

All reports will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.

15. Acknowledgment

By participating in a World Walker program, participants agree to:

  • Follow this Code of Conduct

  • Take responsibility for their actions

  • Contribute to a respectful and meaningful group experience
