Portugal Itinerary

Program Expectations

Students are expected to participate in scheduled program activities and engage respectfully with the local culture. Participation is encouraged but not required. All participants are expected to conduct themselves responsibly and professionally throughout the trip.

Schedule subject to change based on weather, availability, and local conditions.

Saturday, March 14

Arrival in Lisbon

Students arrive in Lisbon and check in at the hotel.
The evening is free to settle in, explore the surrounding neighborhood, and adjust to the time zone.

Sunday, March 15

Afro-Lisbon Cultural Experience

Students participate in a guided Afro-Lisbon cultural experience exploring the city through the lens of Black history and global connections.
The afternoon is free for independent exploration.

Monday, March 16

Identity & Cultural Exploration

The day begins with a panel discussion focused on diaspora identity and global perspective.
In the afternoon, students will explore Lisbon through cultural visits, creative districts, or a scenic walk.

Tuesday, March 17

Travel to the Algarve

The group travels by private bus from Lisbon to Lagos along Portugal’s southern coast.
After hotel check-in, students participate in an African dance class with a local instructor.

Wednesday, March 18

Algarve Coast & Moorish History

Students experience the Algarve coastline with a boat excursion near the famous Benagil Cave.
Later, the group visits Silves Castle to learn about Portugal’s Moorish history and its historical connections to North Africa.

Thursday, March 19

Reflection & Community Celebration

The day begins with a guided reflection workshop.
Students then enjoy free time along the coast before gathering for swimming, a farewell dinner, and celebration.

Friday, March 20

Return to Lisbon

The group travels back to Lisbon by private bus.
The evening is free for final exploration of the city.

Saturday, March 21

Departure Day

Students depart Lisbon and conclude the program.
