Hi everyone! I'm Chioma, a junior at UT Austin studying Marketing with a certificate in Digital Art and Media. As for on-campus involvement, I'm a member of the Undergraduate Business Council and hold a couple of positions within my honors program such as the social media assistant. Upon graduation, my goal is to work in the entertainment, music or fashion industry. Some of my hobbies include volleyball, arts & crafts, online gaming and reading!

My name is Derrick Armstrong, I’m a third-year student at UT Austin majoring in Marketing. I currently serve as the Administrative Vice President of Black Business Student Association on campus, previously serving as Membership Director. I am also a TREC licensed real estate agent and serve as an apartment locator for UT students. I’m super excited to grow and broaden my perspective with you all in Japan this year!

I’m Christianna McAfee, a third-year at UT Austin triple majoring in Communication & Leadership, African and African Diaspora Studies, and Government. Born and raised on the border of Louisiana in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas, I developed a passion for equity in education and leadership. I founded the United Black Collegiate Association and work as a legislative aide and digital strategist at the Texas House. In my free time, I enjoy eating crawfish, exploring Black History media, and analyzing video essays. I’m excited to learn and grow with you all while exploring Japanese culture and education.

As President of the Heman Sweatt Center for Collegiate Males and Treasurer of the Iota Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, he’s committed to empowering others and fostering equity within his community. With hands-on experience at Deloitte and J.P. Morgan, Shelton combines strategic thinking and business expertise as he works toward his ultimate goal: becoming a corporate lawyer to help businesses navigate growth and innovation.

My name is Jonathan Porter. I am a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in Digital Communications. At UTSA, I serve as the Media Director for Avé Magazine, a creative fashion organization that focuses on spreading diversity and creativity through fashion. Additionally, I am a main Photographer for the independent student-run newspaper, "The Paisano." I am passionate for creating visual art particularly in photography, enabling me to explore and build new and innovative ways to tell stories through my eyes (and my camera lens).

I am a third-year undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Health Communications, all while on a pre-med track! I am deeply passionate about community service and youth development, actively working through various organizations to make a positive impact. I am also a proud member of the Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where I serve as the 1st Vice President and NPHC Representative. In my future, I aspire to become a pediatrician, focusing on addressing the challenges posed by poverty and resource limitations in healthcare. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, drawing, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen!

Hi! My name is Sandra Isiguzo and I am a senior Neuroscience major with a Health Communication minor at The University of Texas at Austin. I am passionate about advocacy and mental health especially within the Black community. I currently serve as the First Vice President of the Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. as well as a Peer Support Specialist on campus for the Longhorn SHARE Project (check us out!). Some of my hobbies and interests include motorcycles, cars, reading, music, and country line dancing! I am super excited to create new experiences and immerse myself in Japanese culture!

I currently serve as the Audio/Visual Manager for the dance group Front n' Center, and I work as a Videography and Editing Associate for KS WELI. Additionally, I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where I hold the role of Physical and Mental Health Chair.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games, watching movies, drawing, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. I’m incredibly excited to explore Japan’s breathtaking landscapes, unique architecture, and vibrant culture, especially its impact on animation.

Hi, I’m Courtney Machani, a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, studying Radio/Television/Film with a minor in Sports Media. I’m really passionate about storytelling, media production, and everything related to sports. On campus, I’m involved in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, which has been an amazing way to connect with others and give back to the community. I’m also part of organizations like TSTV Sports and Haven Men, where I get to work on projects specialized to myself. In my free time some of the things I like to do are going to the gym, playing video games, and thrifting. My name is Juan Loredo, and I’m a senior at Texas State University majoring in Integrated Studies, focusing on psychology, sociology, and criminal justice. I’m passionate about service and advocacy, dedicating over 200 hours each semester to community service. I currently serve as President and Parliamentarian of the Mu Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Treasurer of the Texas State NAACP, and March of Dimes College Liaison for the Texas Council of Alpha Chapters. My goal is to uplift my community through education and service, with plans to teach high school and counsel underprivileged youth in the juvenile justice system.

On campus, I am involved in numerous organizations including but not limited to The Honors Business Association, Texas Black Homecoming, UT’s Student Government, National Black Law Students Association, and the Texas United Black Collegiate Association. Professionally, I have aspirations of becoming a corporate lawyer within the intersections of finance, law, and business, where I aim to create innovative solutions that enhance legal strategies within these industries. Outside of academics, I enjoy painting, traveling, shopping, and trying new cuisines. I am a dedicated and driven student with a background in Biomedical Engineering and African & African Diaspora Studies, committed to advancing healthcare equity. My goal is to attend medical school and specialize in cardiology or endocrinology, with a focus on providing compassionate, culturally-competent, high-quality care to Black and medically underserved communities across the Southern United States and globally. Aside from my interests in medicine and justice, I am a huge fan of the arts, especially music and musicals, and play the piano in my free time. Jaylen Lee is a Senior Honors Management Information Systems Student at North Carolina A&T State University originally from Round Rock, TX. Jaylen is a young influential leader who takes pride in authenticity and open-mindedness. Since entering college, Jaylen quickly found an interest in traveling whereas he enjoys the adventure and learning about other cultures. Soon after graduation, he will be launching his career in the tech consulting field. Japan has been at the top of his bucket list, so he’s excited to travel with World Walker this Spring Break.
